Remember when we asked you to part ways with those forgotten knits—the ones hiding in the back of your wardrobe, collecting dust, or in your pile ‘to get rid of’? Well, they’re back, and this time, they’re living their best life as a wool blanket.
What started as an initiative with our Max & Barkers Wool Take Back Programme for circularity to give your pre-loved knits a fresh start, has turned into something truly special. Made right here in New Zealand with the help of our friends at Woolyarns and Inter-Weave, our Wool Blanket isn’t just repurposed; it’s reimagined into something you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
How our Wool Blanket came to life
Step 1: It all started with you. You dropped off your old knitwear (that was at least 85% wool, because only the best for you), and left the rest to us. A second chance never looked so good.
Step 2: Our friends at Woolyarns took it from there, unravelling, re-spinning, and turning your once-loved pieces back into fresh fluffy yarn.
Step 3: Then Interweave wove it all together (literally), into a locally made New Zealand wool blanket, spun with love and ready to keep you cosy for a lifetime.

And just like that, they've come full circle back on the shelves at Max and ready to go home with you.
Wrapped in a second chance
From start to finish, our Wool Take Back Programme was all about second chances, giving something you once loved a new life while supporting local craftsmanship along the way.
Thanks for being part of it.
